Melaleuca officially opened its new distribution center at Knox County’s Forks of the River Industrial Park, where it expects to add 45 to 55 jobs this year.

The Idaho-based maker of nutritional supplements and other products invested $26 million in the Knoxville expansion and a similar project in Idaho Falls. The projects will help the company meet demand over the next 20 years.

The 222,000-square-foot distribution center is adjacent to the 175,000-square-foot facility Melaleuca opened on National Drive in 1992. The original facility has been used for production and distribution and the new building will allow the older building to be used just for production.

Melaleuca produces nutritional supplements, cleaning supplies, personal care and other products and sells these through direct marketers. The new distribution center also includes a retail store.
