Support for stores can energize local economy

SALEM, Mass., Jan. 20, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ — If the Enterprise Center (www.EnterpriseCtr.org) is offering a new workshop series, the topic must be a hot one.  And the variety of retail shops on the North Shore, a number of them new within the past year, supports the Center’s reputation as the “go to” source for innovative business programming.  Beginning on January 31st, the Enterprise Center begins a free, four-workshop mini-series on retail businesses, co-sponsored by local chambers of commerce and the Small Business Development Center.

Whether you want to reinvigorate an existing store, turn your love of animals into a business, or see an opportunity for 21st century fashion, the series agenda is jam packed with valuable information and advice.  It kicks off with Resolutions for Retail 2011, a great check-up for shop owners, an excellent overview of retail issues for would-be retailers, and the perfect opportunity for both to clarify goals and planning for the year ahead.  It will be followed on Mondays in February, March and April with three more highly targeted programs.

Programs will tackle the subjects of best practices in several key areas.  Retail Presentation on February 28th can help you plan or improve the look, feel and organization of your store.  On March 28th, the session will focus on a variety of marketing tools, including social media, to promote your business.  The final program, scheduled for April 18th, delves into retail store operations, including vendor and personnel issues, finances and record keeping.

All workshops will be led by consultant Christine Moynihan, who specializes in helping smaller businesses, particularly retailers, define and leverage their position in the marketplace in order to help them meet their business’ goals.  She is the principal of Graber Marketing, www.grabermarketing.com.

The series is co-sponsored by the Small Business Development Center along with Salem Main Streets and the Chambers of Commerce in Beverly, Lynn, Marblehead, Newburyport, Peabody and Salem.

All workshops will be held at the Enterprise Center; details and registration information are available at www.EnterpriseCtr.org.
