Springville, UT (January 5, 2010)—A group of enthusiastic volunteers from Neways delivered a truckload of donations to the Road Home for their 16th Annual Holiday Broadcast on December 22, 2010. The Road Home is a private nonprofit social-service agency that assists individuals and families experiencing homelessness in Utah. In addition to providing temporary emergency shelter to individuals and families in need, the Road Home’s mission is to help people step out of homelessness and back into our community. Their holiday broadcast represents the largest fundraising event for the Road Home each year, and the goods and money received during this time helps support the Road Home’s efforts throughout the coming year.

“Neways’ Healthy Homes mission includes supporting healthy communities, so supporting the Road Home is a wonderful way to help build stronger communities locally,” said Jennifer Wolbers, VP of sales and marketing at Neways. “We are very pleased to aid this organization and incredibly moved by the generosity of our employees who contributed money and needed items to the Neways drive.”
Volunteers from the North American market and corporate marketing department packed and loaded a large truck with donations from employees and the company, including personal-care kits containing shampoo, conditioner, soap, shave gel, deodorant, mouthwash, toothpaste, lip balm, facial cleanser and moisturizer, and manicure tools, with some kits also containing cosmetics and baby products. The company also organized a donation of around 700 boxes of laundry detergent, one of the Road Home’s most needed items, according to their online posted needs list. Additionally, Neways sponsored a money matching program to encourage others to donate to the Road Home. In total, the Neways corporate donation had a value of more than $50,000.
Neways North America representative Megan Lavin said she was “inspired by the level of giving from all of our employees. We stored donations in an empty office, and by the end of the drive, the office was full!” In all, Neways employees donated dozens of boxes of diapers, wipes, baby food and other baby products, pillows, blankets, coats, hats, gloves, socks, underwear, razors, and toothbrushes, as well as boxes of clothing, shoes, and household and sanitary goods. Local broadcasting organizations filled the lobby of the Road Home, and Neways representatives participated in several popular morning programs. “We are so grateful to all the volunteers from the North American market and corporate who stood in the rain with us to unload and deliver the substantial donation. Not one person’s spirit was dampened by the weather,” said Colette Dahl, a corporate PR representative. “As we were leaving, Santa Claus himself showed up and gave us each a guardian angel token, which was meaningful because we each remembered that a healthy community needs guardians. We are grateful that being part of Neways enables us to give and help others.”
